Diabetes and Diabetic Eye Exams

Diabetes is a disease that not only affects the endocrine system, but can also have serious implications on a person’s eye sight.  Ocular diabetes manifestations occur when the blood vessels of the eye become swollen, leak (hemorrhage), and clot.  It is recommended that a person who has been diagnosed with diabetes have a dilated ophthalmic exam at least once per year.  Diabetes can lead to the early onset of cataracts, glaucoma, and if not controlled can eventually lead to blindness.

Schedule your annual diabetic eye exam with Dr. Samuel Favela or Dr. Massala Reffell at any of our 3 Ophthalmic locations today.
