What Is Brow Lift Surgery?

If your forehead or brow line is giving your age away, then it’s time to find out what we can do to help.

As we get older, our skin begins to sag and lose elasticity. You can thank the loss of collagen production for this. Of course, our El Paso, TX, facial plastic surgeon, Dr. Dennis Reiter, understands the importance of having skin that doesn’t give away your age. If drooping brows or forehead cause more and more people to ask if you are tired or upset, then it might be time to find out if brow lift surgery, also referred to as forehead surgery, is the best option for you.

In many cases, endoscopic surgery is the safest and most effective approach for providing the forehead and the brow line with the lift it needs without making large, invasive incisions into the skin. Through endoscopic surgery we make a couple of small incisions near the hairline, where they will be less visible. Since these incisions are small and out of the way, there is also less of a chance of scarring and you’ll enjoy a quicker recovery time.

Of course, sometimes the traditional approach to a forehead or brow lift is necessary. When you come in for your consultation, our El Paso facial surgeon will be able to help you decide which cosmetic surgical technique is the best approach for giving you the results you want. In the majority of cases, patients will be under general anesthesia before undergoing this surgery. Of course, those who are getting endoscopic surgery may choose to have this procedure done under twilight, or conscious sedation.

Once you are under the effects of anesthesia, we will make an incision or several small ones along the hairline. From there, the forehead and brows are lifted and realigned while also removing tissue that causes wrinkles to form. If necessary, we will remove any additional skin and pull the remaining skin taut. Once the skin is smooth and tighter, we will stitch up the area. Stitches will often be removed after a couple of weeks.

There are a few weeks of recovery time that you will need to allow for. Once your procedure is complete we can better determine which parts of your daily routine you can continue with throughout your recovery time and which activities you’ll want to avoid.
